In Chicagoland, we have access to some amazing museums where we, as adults, can learn, explore and engage with the world around us.  Lucky for us, our children have that same opportunity! The Chicago Children's Museum, located downtown at Navy Pier, can be added to the list of exceptional children's museums in our area which celebrate the interests and developmental needs of children.

Before you even step inside, the musuem sits in a fantastic location! It's in the heart of downtown in a beautiful building which gives you a first-class look at the lake and city, making it the perfect place to bring your out-of-town guests.  It would also make the perfect day trip for when the kids are out of school on holiday break!  Inside, you'll find some thoughtful exhibits which all aim to engage children, of all ages, in science, math, the arts and more.  There's a Tinkering Lab where children can build and take apart using real tools, a water play area where kids can observe the different ways in which water can be used to move and change the environment around it, there's even a treehouse, specifically designed for children under 5, allowing them to climb and move their growing bodies.  Other exhibits include an art space, Kids Town, a dinosaur dig, and even a special snow globe exhibit that's featured now to help ring in the holidays!

However you choose to spend your time, you will feel good knowing your kids are learning and playing and growing! If you visit, share you experience with us on social media using the hashtag #outandaboutwithcompass.  We'd love to see all that you're up to this holiday season!
