Looking for somewhere to hang with mom this weekend that she’ll enjoy just as much as the rest of the family? Celebrate Mother’s Day at the Smart Museum of Art on the University of Chicago campus. The museum is one of the best in the city, and even better—it’s always free!

The exhibits at the museum run the gamut, from paintings and sculptures with international influence, including Asian and European art pieces, to modern displays and more classic paintings. There’s something that will catch your eye here, and plenty of educational opportunities if you want to learn more about art history. There’s even a sculpture garden to enjoy when the weather is nice!

Perhaps the best quality about the museum though are the dynamic and inclusive programming options they offer, again, all of which are free of charge. They have educational programs for adults, and there are plenty of ways for the kids to get involved too. Family drop-in days feature hands on art activities that encourage children to think creatively and expand their minds in ways they may not have to opportunity to do otherwise.

Check out the museum and all its features this weekend with mom! What a fantastic way to celebrate as a family!
