Lord’s Park is 108 acres of municipal wooded land that is located in the heart of Elgin. The park itself has several playgrounds which are spread throughout the property, most within walking distance to one another, and each containing their own unique equipment to keep children entertained. You’ll find stepping stones, slides, balance beams and more.

The Elgin Public Museum is also on the property, housed in a beautiful and historic home. Inside you’ll find several rooms all with their own themes, including the Endangered Species room where you can learn about endangered animals and how they’re being protected, the LaSalle Collection where you get a peek into 1600’s history, and a Discovery Room where younger visitors can use a microscope and play with puppets and puzzles!

Finally, before you leave, be sure to visit the Lord’s Park Zoo which is home to many animals found in our region, including a bison! Pack a picnic and find the perfect spot to enjoy lunch, either under the shade of the many trees, or at a picnic table under a pavilion. You will feel rested and refreshed after you’ve spent some time learning and playing outside!
