Central Iowa has a deeply rooted Dutch heritage which means you don’t have to travel far if you live anywhere in the midwest to get a clear idea of the traditions and customs held by Dutch people. This spring, on May 4-6, plan to attend the 82nd annual Tulip Time Celebration, in Pella!

The three-day festival is a must see event! This charming Dutch community hosts a family friendly celebration including daily parades, presenters and volunteers dressed in traditional costumes, demonstrations, craft, quilt and flower shows, concerts and more! It’s a true celebration of all things Dutch! The city of Pella also has several museums, restaurants, and stores with a Dutch focus that would be fun to peruse. Most exciting of all, though, is the beautiful scenery during the event. Tulips will be in full bloom, making for plenty of lovely photo opportunities!

If your family’s roots lie in the Netherlands, or if you have an interest in other cultures, plan you visit today. You won’t be disappointed!
