The Amana Colonies, located just off of 1-80 are a treasured collection of seven villages, sitting on 26,000 acres of prairie land, offering visitors a step back in time! Originally, the villages were built and settled by German Pietists, who were persecuted for their faith, but since, they’ve been maintained as a way to educate visitors about German history, culture and tradition, and celebrate with friends and family!

The colonies today hold opportunities for gatherings with friends and family, education for the entire family, unique shopping and dining experiences and more! It’s an area that’s rich in culture, art and tradition, so there’s always something new to see and do. Many activities are available year-round, and there are several seasonal things, centered around holidays, which are especially fun! Visit their website for a full run-down of all there is to do!
