Deicke Discovery Zone is more than just a standard playground. This park is ADA certified which means it’s completely wheelchair accessible and has been designed with special needs children in mind. This park seeks to include children of all abilities, especially children ages 1-5. The unique design of this park, and the interactive play elements, make it fun and engaging for everyone. The actual Discovery Zone is a gated area that offers a “mud-free” play area, with soft rubber flooring in most areas, so it’s particularly great for springtime play! The playground is fully interactive and includes a music area, a fire truck and a train crossing, all which play various sound effects. There is a basketball court with hoops of different heights, a replica of the buildings and businesses found in downtown Huntley, as well as swings and slides. There’s a large sand and water area too, so be sure to bring along a towel and a change of clothes for your little ones for when they’re done playing here.

The surrounding park around the Discovery Zone is beautiful and expansive. There are several other playgrounds you can walk to, a large duck pond, an extra tall slide for the risk-takers in your crew, and covered picnic areas.

When you’re done playing, head down the road to Huntley’s Dairy Mart! It’s an old-fashioned, walk-up restaurant that offers delicious burgers, fries, ice cream, and more! The outdoor seating is especially nice on warm spring days!
