Today we welcome the month of November! This month brings a big holiday of its own, but the most fun comes from all the opportunities for Chirstmas prep that will take place in the coming weeks!  Thankfully our city offers lots of unique opportunities to get in the festive spirit. This month, visit the Christkindlmarket, a holiday market which began in Neumburg, Germany in the 16th century, but is celebrated here each year. It’s Chicago’s largest open air holiday market, and it’s not to be missed!

This market is well-known for its unique and well-made gifts, making it the perfect place to get some holiday shopping done! You’ll find traditional things like hand painted cuckoo clocks and blown glass ornaments, to jewelry and children’s toys.

When you need to take a break from shopping, there’s lots of delicious food to fill you up. Potato pancake and sausages, candied nuts and German chocolates. There’s something to satisfy everyone. And since the weather will be chilly, browse the market and keep warm with Glühwein, a traditional German holiday market hot spiced wine. You’ll feel like you’ve traveled far from home, but nestled in the center of downtown, this European holiday experience is just a short distance away.

The market is up and running for several weeks, this year from November 18-December 24, allowing plenty of time to plan your holiday fun!
