One of the joys of summertime as a child is water play! Splash pads are a great alternative to the community pool when you feel like your children need a change of pace, or if they’re not quite old enough to be comfortable in the water alone.Blog_Image_Splash_Pag.png

There are many choices in greater Chicagoland, but Prairie Point Community Park in Oswego, and Sunset Park in Lake in the Hills, have beautiful, and FREE splash pads. Glen Ellyn also has a great splash area at Maryknoll Park which visitors can enjoy for a small fee. It’s the perfect way to enjoy these hot and humid summer days! Each park features upwards of 17 spray and play features. You will find all the traditional splash pad equipment which will entertain children for hours. They can run under waterfalls of water, wait under buckets as they fill, then empty spontaneously. They can aim water at each other if they’re feeling competitive, and there are fountains springing from the ground that even the youngest can enjoy! Bring along some buckets and a ball or two for some additional fun! Water shoes are recommended so there are not accidental slips.

When the kids are ready to dry off, take a walk around the surrounding parks. There are playgrounds, volleyball courts, and plenty of open space to roam around.

When it’s time to leave, your kids will go home happy and tired. Happy summer!
