Whether you’re up for a leisurely stroll through some beautiful gardens, or would prefer 18 holes of golf. If you have extensive knowledge of military history, or would like to know more about Chicagoland history, Cantigny Park has something for you!

The property is expansive and beautifully maintained, making it perfect for those days when you want to enjoy the outdoors. There are multiple water features and a wide-variety of plant life to inspire you. There’s even an Idea Garden for you to peruse so you can take some of the things you see at Cantigny home with you. The many benches scattered throughout the gardens make the perfect place to sit and enjoy some quiet time.

Cantigny also has a rich history as the mansion on the property, which has since been made into a museum, was once owned by Robert R. McCormick. Tour inside to learn a bit about his life, and his varying interests ranging from journalism to fox hunting! He valued military service and served in WWI achieving the rank of colonel. This helps explain the military influence you find at Cantigny. After you tour the museum, take a look at the tanks on the property! They are meant to be touched and explored, so get up close and touch and climb.  This is especially fun for kids!

Finally, if you’re a golfer, you’ll enjoy the world-course.  There’s a kids’ course to enjoy for the budding golfer in your family.
