If you are a golf pro, outdoor enthusiast, beachgoer or theme park lover, at least one of these vacation spots will appeal to you. Even more appealing, the home prices! According to Zillow’s “Best Places to Buy a Vacation Home” list, these are the top four spots based on location, price and investment potential.

Haines City, FL

Median Home Value: $123,000

Golf-loving homebuyers will enjoy multiple things about a Haines City vacation home. Not only are there several of the nation's best golf courses within a 30 minute driving radius but existing home prices and cost to build are extremely favorable.

Median home prices in Haines City are approximately two-thirds the price of a typical U.S. home, with new builds ranging from $50-$60 per square foot, according to CNN.

Vacationers also enjoy easy flight access, traveling into Tampa or Orlando international airports for less than an hour drive to their vacation home. Both the Atlantic and Gulf coasts are within a 90-minute drive for those who prefer to spend their days on the water rather than the golf course.

Thousand Palms, CA

Median Home Value: $160,000

Thousand Palms is a great vacation home choice for buyers who enjoy the dry heat of desert living and outdoor activities. This part of California is home to several desert must-sees, such as the Joshua Tree National Park, Big Borongo Canyon, and the San Bernardino National Forest.

The next town over is Palm Springs, a Hollywood legacy, which has several man-made attractions. Enjoy museums, five-star restaurants, golf courses, luxurious spas, scenic hikes, the booming nightlife, waterparks, casinos and film festivals.

The cost of homeownership is significantly lower than the average $425,000 for the rest of California, making Thousand Palms a lower-cost choice for a vacation home with endless entertainment opportunities.

Port Salerno, FL

Median Home Value: $143,000

Port Salerno is home to historic fishing and a booming resort and second home community - though it still maintains a small-town feel. For water enthusiasts looking for a surprising low sticker price on vacation homes, Port Salerno is it.

Sports fishing, boating, beaches, water parks and windsurfing top the lists of second-home residents with several options of beach access.

Davenport, FL

Median Home Value: $110,000

Davenport is a great place for a family vacation home. This small central Florida city is less than 20 minutes away from Walt Disney World but remains far enough away to be removed from the commotion the amusement park brings in.

Thanks to the proximity of the mother-of-all-themeparks, Universal Studios, Legoland and Sea World, Davenport residents enjoy easy interstate access to endless quality restaurants and attractions.

Home affordability in Davenport doesn't hurt vacation home buyers either. Median prices range around $110,000 and few homes, if any, sell for more than $250,000, according to area real estate agencies.
